We first discovered these wine glasses at a very nice Italian restaurant and noticed the inscription with the name on the base of the wine glasses and decided to search for them. Very glad we found such a great deal on Amazon for these, they are very good quality glasses. I actually dropped one from about 5 ft. on accident and to my astonishment it bounced across my wood floor and didn't break! Looking into it I found that these glasses are made of a proprietary material that is very durable. This particular shape enhances the smell of the wine, and the glass is thin enough for a crisp sip.

I love these glasses. They are the perfect size and shape for reds. Yes, they are big. But not so big that they look pretentious. Excellent value.

Given that most of us, despite the best care, will break a wine glass or too, the $25 per stem price of Riedel or other crystals didn't seem sensible to me. I purchased my first Luigi Bormioli approximately 4 years ago, and can't say enough about them. Wine opens beautifully and makes its way to the right part of your mouth for tasting, the glass is gorgeously clear and, my favorite part? The sound is astounding!!! The coup de grace has been when sommelier friends, or simpy wine lovers, have mistaken them for very expensive stems . . .
